Environmental Affairs

What We Do

The role of the Environmental Affairs Department is to communicate with the students and determine their concerns related to environmentally friendly solutions within their schools, to work with the Legislative and Academic Affairs department to draft testimonies related to environmental issues, to develop resources for students addressing possible actions to become environmentally friendly, and to ensure that recycling is practiced at all meetings.

Director Bio

Hey everyone! My name is Swathi Sivakumar and I am the Environmental Affairs Director of MCJC. I was a finance deputy last year and am an 8th grader at Hallie Wells Middle School. Originally I joined student advocacy to protect and sustain our environment. I am in numerous environmental-related organizations such as MoCo for Wild and Green team. My goal of preserving the outdoors led to opportunities with other various student advocacy organizations. I have two years of student advocacy experience with associations such as SGA, NJHS, and the SMOB Advisory Council. I am so excited to work with everyone this year!
