Hello! My name is Azimullah Rifai and I am a rising 7th grader at Roberto Clemente Middle School. This is my second year in MCJC, and last year I was Academic Affairs Director. Feel free to talk to me about anything you want, MCJC, school, sports, cloths, shoes, etc. I also really love to play sports like lacrosse, basketball, and calisthenics!! I strongly believe in Diversity, Equality of Resources within MCPS, Safer and Cleaner School, and Equal Representation of Schools Within MCJC and other advocacy programs like MCR and Project Change.
Hello! My name is Yun Yeung, and I am the President of MCJC . Going into my last year of middle school, I hope, with the MCJC executive board, that we are able to help MCPS have more leadership opportunities for middle school. MCJC is often one of the first stepping stones to leadership and provides opportunities to all middle schoolers. I want to help to start and/or continue their career in student advocacy! After meeting with everyone, I can say that this year will be a blast and I look forward to working with the advisors and the students!
My name is Nirav Akkanapragada and I’m the MCJC Treasurer for the 2020 school year. I am a rising 8th grader at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in the Humanities Program. The blueprint of the goals I hope to achieve in MCJC this year is spread into four parts. The first three parts will work towards increasing awareness about MCJC while the fourth part will assist with expanding MCJC’s advocacy. The first three parts are community service events, unique fundraisers, and monthly newsletters. The community service events will advertise MCJC while benefitting the community. The different, unique fundraisers will help families bond while encouraging them to fund MCJC. The funding will help us accomplish our desired endeavors. Finally, the newsletter will keep the community up-to-date on what MCJC has accomplished and what we are working on throughout the year. The fourth part of my plan, which will increase MCJC’s advocacy, is to expand our stances to more topics like mental health and student safety. The expansion of topics will show the MCPS community that MCJC is involved in our current issues and will show that we will do whatever it takes to express the voice of MCPS students. Expanding our stances will also help establish MCJC as a major advocacy group, something we’ve failed to achieve in years past. I know that this plan is considerably large, however, I can't wait to work with the executive board this year to help me accomplish this goal!
